Abstract A series of true axial hydraulic fracturing experiments were conducted to understand the complex fracture initiation and propagation behavior multilayered rocks. Moreover, a new convenient grid measurement method was presented describe effectiveness. The experimental results revealed that transverse vertical non-planar fractures could be created in area scanning by match indicated traditional Geomagic method. close layer contact determines how produced fishbone structure system is.
